From Time-to-Time We Offer Some of Our Best
American Guinea Hogs? You must have heard about them if you've made it all the way here on your journey through the "innerwebs". They are the best rooters and foragers around. The perfect hog for homesteaders, or for anyone looking to be more independent with his or her food supply. This page contains a little piece of Heart's Pasture passed on from us to you. If you've found us, welcome. You most likely have a small amount of land and are looking to raise your own meat. Perhaps you work hard and are resilient, have big dreams, and support the local food movement. It could be that you have similar beliefs in animal welfare and personal philosophies to us. Maybe you, too, pasture your animals, feed organic, are soy and corn free, and rely on herbs as nature's source of "magic" medicine. And . . . just maybe, you base your principals on how food can nourish the body and the soul. Food that, if given the opportunity, can be medicine in it's own right. If that doesn't make you scratch your head, thank you so much for your visit. We hope you stay awhile and peruse what makes us, having a ceaseless devotion toward nutrition, unlike any other.
Heart's Pasture Magnifico
Registered, Breeding-Quality, American Guinea Hog Boar
Sometimes fate plays a role in an animals life. As a piglet, Magnifico stood out from the rest. We talked about how he was clearly very promising. At just days old, we noticed his nice size, 13 teats, and nicely formed back line. As time went on, he demonstrated that he had a personality to match. When it came time to castrate, we dragged our feet. It never got done. That seems to be something of an omen, as here he is today at two years old, ready for showtime. As his name aptly implies, we hope that he becomes a well-known and respected boar to a high-quality breeding program, forever wallowing in the limelight.
