Experience True Sourdough Bread
In this class, seasoned baker Amanda will take you through all the steps of the sourdough bread making process. Create and take home two fresh loaves using simple, high-quality ingredients and spend a few hours with a small group of like-minded bread lovers. Enjoy a sense of community as you mix your dough. Learn about what makes sourdough unique and healthy during a series of turns and folds. Experience a homemade, on-farm lunch (included!) while the loaves rise. Finally, turn out your bread and slide it into the brick oven to bake. Leave the class with your loaves, an instruction packet, and a small amount of sourdough starter, empowered to bake sourdough at home.
Meet the Baker
Amanda has been baking at least two loaves of bread every Sunday for over 10 years, adding up to thousands of loaves made with love in her home oven. She has made yeast and quick breads, but none compares to the hearty and flavorful sourdough. Over this time, she has perfected her craft and is delighted to share her knowledge with other sourdough bread enthusiasts. In her words, "I am enamored with these sourdough loaves, with a crusty exterior and a soft chewy interior, the flavor and texture is unbeatable!"
She designed this class for anyone with an interest in traditional, hearth-baked bread, from the novice to the seasoned baker. It takes place outdoors on our beautiful, wooded farm using a wood-fired brick oven. Built by hand here on the farm at Heart's Pasture in 2025, this unique bread oven is the heart(h) of the class.
