The feeling of spring is upon us in Northern Michigan. Even though there is still a lot of snow on the ground, new beginnings, renewal, and growth fill our spirits and awaken us from our winter slumber. One of the most meaningful (and easiest) things to do to usher in the new upcoming season of light is to practice the conscious act of growing food. In March, that means seed starting. Doing so allows us to reconnect with the part of our lives that was dormant during the winter months. The picturesque summer harvest of abundant, fresh food, filled with flavor and tended by loving hands and open hearts, having been grown from tiny, almost miniscule seeds, is a truly amazing thing to behold. Seed starting is the first step.
The good news is that there are no prerequisites to growing your own food. You don't need the blessing or stamp of approval of an agency or institution. You don't need years of prior experience. And you don't need a lot of infrastructure or space. Oh, and the best part of the whole process is that anyone can do it. We plan to have the whole evolution of the seed starting process right here on our blog. It is our hope that it motivates our readers to take back their independence, be less reliant on food from the store, and refocus on what matters most --health. Because of that, seed starting epitomizes our farm slogan of health and homesteading independence. May these series of blogs open your mind and rekindle the dormant act of working naturally with one of the most magical parts of our realm: seeds. Comments are closed.
